But as I said such peoples opinions carry weight in other parts, ie "how does the game balance feel for the people in that skill bracket" and "what tends to make the game harsh on those with lacking abilities". The "opinion" of some random 44% that does 1/2 to 2/3 of server average damage on a per ship basis on how well a ship can be used and how overpowering it can be in the hand of even a top 30% player? Pretty much entirely worthless. And the only viable metric to evaluate if someone actually is experienced is to check if what ships they have played (and thus also which ships they've played against) and how well they're able to use those ships.
That's pretty exactly much my point, experienced players voicing their opinions is a good thing. Of course, most calls for buffs and nerfs are still due to ignorance. I assume WG use their data, use their internal experience and listen to player feedback for that reason. The point is - experience is valuable to determine ship strength. There's where experience comes in, when you don't have much statistical data to analyse. In the specific example of Khaba post HE buff, I assume you didn't experience the OP nature of Khaba in only 1 of 50-100 games Khaba was in. I agree that a ship being OP in the hands of 1-2% isn't a cause for a nerf. Which part? the opinion- or the stat part?
